With classes done and 6 months before the banks start chasing me down for the monies, I want to try a few things. Now, before even thinking of going to school to makes games, I was already making my own. It was a hobby. And now that school is done I want to try and pick that back up! I want to make and sell my own games! At the moment I'm working on my own, but that isn't a bad thing. I like knowing how to do it all. It's fun to learn and fun to implement!
Super smart friends of mine tell me if I want to make my own games, START SMALL!!! Nothing kills a game slower than over-scoping. It's disheartening when you put many months into it and still can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, plus if you're using it to pay rent, you need it done to sell. I think it would be a good idea to start small anyways! Good practice for all those impossibly big ideas, of which I have several. And, if I complete them and sell them I can start to make a living on the games I create!!!!
Along with making games, I want to try and create 3d models to sell online. It will be good practice to concept, model, texture, rig and animate! I think that could be my "niche". I see a lot of good models, but not many are animated. I could make animated props and sell them! Guess I'll see how it goes.
All of this is a LOT of risk taking, but if you aren't taking risks for what you want to do, are you really living? Well, I guess I'll find out. Stay tuned as awesomeness continues!
